I have read in different articles that cars get faster 0 t0 60 times and 1/4 miles times when they turn their esp/stability control off. Is this true? If it does make it faster, by how much?Does turning off my car esp/stability control button make my car faster?
It is true with my Magnum R/T AWD %26amp; SRT8. If the System notices any wheel slippage the ESP will engage and therefore, apply the brakes to the wheel spinning the most %26amp; even defueling the motor...thus affecting your launch and times.
I did several runs testing my Magnum RT AWD %26amp; SRT8 on the track with ESP on, ESP disabled with pushing dash button %26amp; finally pulling Fuse #17 (ESP).
Even with ESP disabled by pushing on the dash button, ESP would still kick in and have some control on the system %26amp; my vehicle. From my tests and reading the ESP on LX platform (Magnum, 300C %26amp; Charger) vehicles never fully disables unless you pull Fuse #17.
When I pulled Fuse #17 it seemed to fully disable the ESP and I got better runs, launches and times and even burned some rubber on all 4 wheels with my AWD Magnum when I launched.
I only pulled Fuse #17 at the track as I do want ESP during normal daily driving.Does turning off my car esp/stability control button make my car faster?
it makes very little difference in it,as far as speed goes you, will notice a very slight gain, but not enough to help you really, you can try it and see if you think it helps ,to me its not worth the difference in turning it off for, speed isn't that important, good luck.
lets study this !!!!!
you want to turn OFF something that makes your car stable so that you can go faster in an unstable vehicle
makes sense to me , go for it
see you in casualty

The only person with a reasonable answer is the srt-8 owner.
Unless your in the middle of a damn blizzard the esp/stability controll is nothing but a useless feature that prevents you from spinning the tires.
The differance is only going to be a couple tenths of a second in a 1/4 mile at best but feels like more to your *** dyno.
I think half the people who replied to this drive hybrid toyota camry's lol.
Amy the reason your car shifts up in autostick before you want it to is because that is the redline for your engine. Your guage cluster may say one thing for cosmetics but the engineers program that safety in so you dont pop the engine.
Now you can reprogram the computer to adjust it up a little but your not going to gain much as your going out of your powerband anyway. if you take your car to the track and your losing time on your et because you shift into 3rd right before you cross the line you may want to adjust it a little further but other then that your wasting your time.
unless cutting it off effects the electronic control of the computer I would seriously doubt it would effect the speed of the vehicle. sounds to me like someone has shot you a line.
I owned an 05 300c and it did seem a hair quicker with the esp shut off.Even in the off position the esp is not fully disengaged only on police models is the esp able to be totally disengaged. One other annoyance that I had with my 300c was a lack of ability to truly control the transmission shift points even in auto stick mode it would shift way before the red line or when I wanted it to.
So would turning off the A/C and removing the serpentine belt, because it would reduce the load on the engine to drive the accessories. Chances are that's what gives faster acceleration in these conditions. Under extreme acceleration, the car body and suspension react to the torque on the drive wheels. The suspension and stability controls may also limit maximum acceleration through the engine control computer. OK, leadfoot, I'll accelerate, but I'll do it smoothly. Override the computer and it's manual control.
OK, it's your car, I'll do what you tell me, just don't expect a smooth ride.
I wouldn't think so but I do know its one of the best accident prevention tools ever made preventing thousands of accidents. If I was you I'd leave that on for sure.
With the esp/stability control on you can't spin the tires to get max acceleration. If it is necessary to max accelerate, by turning off the control the brakes will not be applied to the spinning wheels, therefore, will it be faster? I don't know.
