Is it possible to control a remote controlled car using a television controller?

I have wondered about this for some time now... Can someone please help me?!Is it possible to control a remote controlled car using a television controller?
Probably not.

Remote controlled cars usually use radio based controls while TVs usually use infra-red based controls.

You can, however, sometimes get remote controlled cars to move with an older ';toy'; walkie talkie or older cordless phone. When I was a kid, we spent a long summer jury rigging a ';universal'; control for our RC cars out of an old walkie talkie and a touch tone phone. It sorta kinda worked, but I wouldn't call it functional by any stretch of the imagination. Is it possible to control a remote controlled car using a television controller?
nope...
Not likely.

t.v. remotes use infrared light that is picked up by an infrared light receiver on the t.v.

Most r.c. car remotes use radio frequency to send signals to the car.

Two different processes that wouldn't work together.

I say 'not likely' instead of 'no', because you could, theoretically, modify one or the other. But realistically, it would be cheaper and easier to buy either type from a store.
By the time you finished modifying the TV remote to operate the r/c car, it'll no longer be a TV remote.
