What are the catholic rules on birth control?

Are they allowed to use birth control pills? Patchs? Condoms? What are the catholic rules on birth control?
The Catholic Church believes that God allows natural forms of birth control.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:

1. Single people should be celibate.

2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

3. Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control is against the will of God.

Here is the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop's website on Natural Family Planning: http://www.usccb.org/prolife/issues/nfp/

With love in Christ. What are the catholic rules on birth control?
No artificial birth contraception, no abortificients, no barrier birth control. The only officially condoned birth control is timed abstinence. Guess when the woman is most likely to ovulate and abstain. You are allowed to use hormone kits to make the guesses more accurate but that's really expensive.
Catholics are taught to respect God's gift to us -- the ability to participate in His creation through procreation, by which ';the two shall become one'; quite literally.

In other words, we are supposed to want and treasure children, and we are supposed to welcome as many children into our lives as we can.

The concept of ';birth control'; is a rejection of God's gift. So artificial means of birth control are not allowed. Natural family planning is okay because it can be used to *achieve* pregnancy, and, if we have a serious reason for avoiding pregnancy, such as money problems, health problems, the recent birth of a child, etc., then it's okay to use NFP to figure out when the woman is most likely to get pregnant and abstain, sacrificing our desires for a time.
The old joke is what do you call a married Catholic couple that practices natural family planning? Parents

Sorry, this is not a laughing matter.

You've already gotten all the right answers.

Natural Family Planning or the Rhythm Method is the only form of birth control that is recognized by the Roman Catholic Church.

Another person stated correctly, “most followers use condoms.” I would argue that if you wish to be a true and faithful Catholic that you must remain faithful to the teachings of your Church!

I am a married priest with another Catholic denomination. I understand the struggles that many young families face. Though our Church views Contraception as a matter of personal conscience, your choice in this issue will determine if you are Really Roman Catholic! If your choice is in favor of utilizing artificial means of contraception then you will in fact be separating yourself from your Church.

I believe that the Rhythm Method, if followed dutifully, offers Catholics a very safe means of natural family planning. No, it is not perfect. The bottom line is that this is a choice between you, your spouse, and your collective conscience.

Kindest regards,

Fr. Michael Callahan

No, they are only allowed to use the Rhyme method. (It does not work. Plus most followers use condoms anyway. Please, use protection)
no to all! the Catholic Church teaches Natural Family Planning and it is much safer and healthier for you than artificial drugs or condoms.
No artificial birth control allowed.

You and yours will have to learn NFP.
No, no and no. Catholics use something called natural family planning. God Bless...
