It sort of depends on what type of pill you are on. Is it monophasic or triphasic? Monophasic means all of the active pills have the same levels of hormones in each pill. Triphasic pills, on the other hand, have different levels of hormones each week (and the active pills come in different colors for each week). If you are on monophasic pill, you'll be fine just skipping the placebo week and starting a new pack. No problem. But if you are on triphasic pills, it's a bit more complicated.

There are two ways you might go about skipping your period while on triphasic birth control pills. The first way is to take all of the active pills from one pack, in order, then throw out your placebo pills and start the next pack. But here's the twist: in the next pack, start with your last active pill first and go backwards from there. The other option is to start out with two packs of pills and take the first Sunday pill from the first pack one day, then the first Sunday pill from the second pack the next day, and so on like that. Can i skip the week of birth control that starts your period and just start a new pack to avoid my period?
I've done that a lot too. Also, some birth control pills are better than others in that they almost eliminate your periods or only give you one or two very light days. I was on several years ago and then they put me on one call Norinel (?). It was great - only had one day light period each month. You can ask your doctor if there is one on the market like that for use in the future. Have a good time in Hawaii!
Yes. Definitely. I do that all the time. It is not guaranteed to stop your period, but it most likely will. Good luck, and have fun in hawaii. I'm jealous...
